Brian Wolfe, co-founder of Wolfe Face Art & FX and world-renowned face and body painter, died Oct. 15, 2013 in Orlando, Fla. from F1 metastatic pancreatic cancer. He was 45.

Brian Wolfe obituary: Young Brian and Nick Wolfe ready for HalloweenBorn March 13, 1968 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, along with identical twin brother Nick, enjoyed drawing and expressed an early enthusiasm for art and illusion (at left in one of their first face-painting looks).

In 1998, the twins started working at Universal Studios Florida in the prosthetics department and gained recognition from the face-painting company Enjoy Your Face Inc. Inspired by their childhood experiences, they developed face-painting designs specifically for boys, bridging a gender gap in the world of face painting.

In 2001, they were hired as contributing authors to Creative Facepainting, which has been produced in five languages. They left Universal Studios in 2004 and founded the make-up company Wolfe Brothers Face Art & FX. As the artistic directors of the company, they regularly toured the world to Brian Wolfe obituary: gray wolf face paintpromote their products and teach face- and body-art techniques.

“What makes them so special to me and the world isn’t all about their outstanding, extraordinary and exquisite incredible make-up talents—it is about their vibrance, passion, love and belief in living their lives to the fullest. They are absolutely amazing, hard-working, forward-thinking, positive people,” said Neena Collins, co-producer of the Midwest Haunters Convention, where the Wolfe brothers won the first-ever Monster Makeup Wars in 2004. “They have inspired thousands of people worldwide and made everyone feel appreciated, and so much more.” (continued below)

They also worked for companies such as Graftobian, Diamond FX and Superstar; they contributed to the book Extreme Facepainting and magazines such as Illusion, Haunted Attraction Magazine, Klutz and Orlando Magazine.

“They’ve affected many lives by instilling a sense of confidence and belief—beauty—with all their encouragement, outstanding support and love,” said Collins.

Brian is survived by his wife, Dara; his daughter, Trinity; brothers Nick and Matt and parents Jim Wolfe and PJ Lindsey. Donations to help the family may be made at gofundme.com/brianwolfe; condolences may be sent to 532 Woodland Terrace Blvd., Orlando, Fla. 32828.

A memorial service was held Nov. 7 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Fla. (BELOW: Brian with wife, Dara, and daughter, Trinity)Brian Wolfe obit: Brian, wife Dara and daughter Trinity
