IMATS Merges with Canadian Makeup Show |
Posted: Thursday 19 February, 2009

The International Make-Up Artist Trade Show has just added a fourth country to its roster: Canada. Make-Up Artist magazine publisher Michael Key and Canadian Makeup Show producer Jeff Saunders announced a merger late in February: All Canadian Makeup Shows will now become IMATS shows.
Because the Vancouver-based CMS was scheduled so soon after the merger announcement, in April, Make-Up Artist magazine is only acting as a sponsor this year. But all subsequent CMS shows, including this year's Toronto-based CMS in November, will become IMATS shows.
"We’re excited to produce IMATS shows in Canada; I’m looking forward to bringing the Make-Up Artist magazine and IMATS strengths to those shows," Key said. "We’ve been exhibiting in Toronto for the past decade and I consider it a very strong market. It’s comfortable, familiar territory for us. The city is strong and vibrant—it’s a great place for a show. We have 13 years' experience producing the very best shows for make-up artists and we can take this show to the next level.
"I’m delighted that Jeff Saunders will continue to be involved—his contribution brings great value."
"I think this is an excellent opportunity to expand the show to its greatest potential," added Saunders, who is also the owner of the Toronto retail outlet Industry Cosmetics & Beauty Supply, Inc. Make-Up Artist already hosts two annual IMATS shows: one in Los Angeles in June, the other in London in January. A third show, to be held in Sydney, Australia this September, was announced last fall. This year's Vancouver CMS happens April 4-5; the Toronto IMATS show is scheduled for Nov. 14-15. Keynote speakers, educators and events will be announced at a later date.
