Attendance hit an all-time high at IMATS Sydney 2012. More than 3,000 people flocked to the show, from make-up industry leaders to emerging artists. Keynote speakers included beauty artist Rachel Montgomery (see Cover 3 and page 50 of Issue 99), movie artist Sarah Rubano (Elysium and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Adam Johansen (Odd Studio cofounder). Other highlights included a full-body make-up designed by M.A.C. Senior Artist Nicole Thompson and a Klingon make-up created by Thomas Surprenant.

The Many Faces of 'Cloud Atlas' by Joe Nazzaro
Cloud Atlas required two make-up departments to create multiple looks for multiple characters. Artists Daniel Parker and Jeremy Woodhead oversaw the make-up units required to transform the all-star cast into wildly different characters over the course of six stories. The cast included Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Sturgess, Susan Sarandon, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Ben Whishaw and James D'Arcy.
