Ever wondered what it’s like to run a major cosmetics company? Commander in Heels, a one-hour special premiering Sept. 3 on the Oprah Winfrey Network, offers some hints. Commander in Heels profiles two executives balancing work and family life: Dylan Lauren (CEO of the candy company Dylan’s Candy Bar) and Leslie Blodgett, the executive chairman of Bare Escentuals.
In the show, the San Francisco-based Blodgett discusses her dual roles as wife/mother and Bare Escentuals executive. Blodgett joined the San Francisco-based company as CEO in 1994. Since then, the company has expanded to 31 countries, with more than 6,500 points of distribution, including more than 200 company-owned boutiques. In 2010, Blodgett sold the company to Shiseido for more than $1.7 billion. For this special, the network followed Blodgett as she planned a Fall 2012 Bare Escentuals photo campaign.
