Ray Sebastian Jr., Make-up Artist for TV and Film, Dies at 63

Ray Sebastian Jr., a second-generation make-up artist, died from a massive heart attack. March 2 in Los Angeles. He began his career in independent films, became a journeyman in 1977 and worked on television shows including TheDukes of Hazzard and feature films including Mrs. Santa Claus.

He had been member of Local 706, the West Coast make-up artist and hairstylist union that his father helped form in 1937. Sebastian donated his time to various charities and was known among his colleagues for his sense of humor. “He was a tremendous raconteur,” said make-up artist Michael Blake. “He was never at a loss to tell stories. We’ve lost a good guy and a good friend.” Services were held March 8 at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills.
