At Make-Up Artist we know you have worked hard to get where you are and we want to recognize that. Our cards are determined by which area of the Industry you are currently working. We value each and every artist and try to create programming and events that are tailored to you.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND
You are never guaranteed a certain card type. Cards are awarded or denied based on the credentials uploaded.
Red Card
The Red Card is for current students at recognized make-up schools.
Membership Fee: $20. Renews once after two years with verification of current student status.
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Government-issued photo ID (e.g., passport or driver’s license) and current, detailed proof of make-up student enrollment with the school name, courses being taken and dates enrolled in make-up school.
PLEASE NOTE: Recognized make-up schools have a physical location, have been open for at least a year and offer at least 100 class hours of make-up training. Online courses do not qualify.
Blue Card
The Blue Card is for professional estheticians, cosmetologists, bridal make-up artists or cosmetic sales associates.
Membership Pricing: $20. Renews every 2 years

Professional Estheticians and Cosmetologists
- Copy of your esthetician/cosmetology license
Cosmetic Sales Associates
- A make-up-related résumé/cv
- A current pay stub from a make-up company showing employment within the last six months*
Bridal Make-Up Artists
3 out of the following 6 are required
- A make-up-related résumé/cv
- Current dedicated website showcasing your work (Instagram and Facebook—will not be accepted)
- Diploma/certificate from a recognized make-up academy
- Signed bridal contracts
- Copies of paychecks for make-up work done
- Other proof of performing bridal make-up as a paid profession
PLEASE NOTE: Discount cosmetic cards, personal business cards/brochures and redacted documents are not considered part of our approved credentials.
White Card
The White Card is for media make-up artists who work in print, film, theater, television and/or runway.
Membership Pricing: $20. Renews every 2 years
APPROVED CREDENTIALS:
Please submit four different documents from the list below:
- A make-up-related résumé/cv
- Current dedicated website showcasing your work (blogs and social networking sites—such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook—will not be accepted)
- Diploma/certificate from a recognized make-up academy
- Recent editorial page with name credit, program/press materials listing your name
- Recent contract on production company letterhead
- Recent pay stub from a production company
- Recent crew/call list on production company letterhead
- IMDB listing
- Any other document proving you are a working paid professional make-up artist.

Green Card
The Industry Card is for all members of the make-up industry who do not fit into our traditional card types. If you are a Make-up Manufacturer, Make-up Store or Salon Owner, Agency Owner, Photographer or Model—this card is for you!

Gold Card
The Gold Card is for professional make-up artists affiliated with certain trade unions, represented by an approved agency, working in an approved make-up effects shop or working in professional theater.
Your membership is complimentary. Renews every 2 years
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Artists Represented by an approved union
- A copy of your union card from IATSE 798,706, 873, 891 or NABET
Artists represented by a approved agency
- A link to a personal profile on an agency website (please see pull-down menu in application for approved list)
Artist working in an approved make-up effects shop
- Proof of employment for 1 year or more at an approved make-up effects shop
Artists working for a professional theater company
- A signed contract or pay stub from an approved professional theater company
Platinum Card
The Platinum Card is awarded to individuals for their leadership and contributions to the industry.
This is our highest-level, invitation-only card. It’s awarded to select individuals for their leadership and their contributions to the industry. Applications are not accepted for this card.
