The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced their picks for the 2018-19 Board of Governors, and Make-Up Artist magazine wants to congratulate Lois Burwell, who was chosen to once again serve as a governor of the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch—and resuming her role of First Vice President. Burwell was first elected as a governor in 2015.
Each of the 17 branches of the academy are represented by three governors. These governors can serve up to three consecutive terms and they oversee the academy’s vision and mission.
Burwell is on Oscar-winning make-up artist, which she won for her work on Braveheart. She was also nominated for Saving Private Ryan. Some of her other credits include The Princess Bride, War Horse, Lincoln and most recently Ready Player One.
