Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. has been creating monster magic for over 30 years. Since departing from Stan Winston and striking out on their own, the team has encountered their ups and downs, but today is one of the most successful studios in Hollywood and a proven powerhouse of creativity. On Oct. 2, a new exhibition at the Hollywood Museum in the historic Max Factor Building will celebrate their incredible work.
The opening night gala and VIP reception is sure to attract the “who’s who” of the make-up industry. Industry leaders will step into ADI’s studio via this exhibition and uncover the secrets behind bringing such fantastic creatures to life on the big screen.
Tom Woodruff Jr., ADI co-owner, says of the exhibition, “Our goal in celebrating our ADI 30th anniversary with this exhibit is to thank those we’ve worked with over the years and to give the public a glimpse into what ADI is all about.
“Beyond the visuals, we’re enjoying the prospect of sharing the process to allow fans and folks in general to see how an idea ultimately becomes a special character in some of their favorite movies (spoiler—you might just learn something)!”
The Academy Award-winning artists at ADI have created the magic behind some of our favorite films, including Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Godzilla: King of Monsters, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Incredible Hulk, Hollow Man, Alien: Resurrection, Jumanji, Demolition Man, Alien 3, Point Break and Tremors.
Attendees of the gala will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and will have the opportunity to revel in 30 years of cinema’s most entertaining characters.
Return to makeupmag.com after the exhibit opening for photos from the night that will surely reveal a consortium of masters. Be sure to check out Issue 135 of Make-Up Artist magazine where we will cover more of ADI’s journey, along with other make-up effects companies still going strong.
