On the heels of the 2015 Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards, the Hollywood Beauty Awards paid tribute to make-up artists, hairstylists and other creative artisans who keep the city’s celebrities looking good on the red carpet.
Sponsored by entertainment website LATF USA and held Feb. 15 at Hollywood’s Fonda Theatre, this first-time event also served as a benefit for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Celebrity presenters included actress Jane Fonda, who presented an Outstanding Achievement Award for Makeup to Bernadine M. Anderson (the pair had worked together on eight films), and actor Patrick Stewart, who presented an Outstanding Achievement Award for Makeup to veteran artist Michael Westmore, with whom he had worked on Star Trek. Actress Jennifer Lewis presented the Outstanding Achievement Award for Hairstyling to Julia L. Walker, while actress Bai Ling presented Martin Samuel with the Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling Award. Finally, Morgan Fairchild presented an Outstanding Achievement Award in Photographer to Harry Langdon.
There were also five separate award categories—each named for an Outstanding Achievement Award recipient—in which make-up artists, hairstylists and photographers competed.
Here are the winners in each category:
Bernandine M. Anderson Award for Makeup: Autumn Moultrie
Michael Westmore Award for Makeup: Thuy Pham, Gregory Arlt
Julie L. Walker Award for Hairstyling: Marcia Hamilton
Martin Samuel Award for Hairstyling: Lea Journo
Harry Langdon Award for Photography: Emmanuelle Choussy
According to LATF Vice President Pamela Price, the event drew approximately 200 people. A panel of beauty industry experts, journalists and publicists chose nominees based on their expertise, creativity and artistry. Price said she anticipates staging it again next year, and, she added “for the next 100 years!”
