Celebrity make-up artist Jake Bailey has died, E! News is reporting, of an apparent suicide.
The Los Angeles-based artist was known for his work with clients including Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwen Stefani. He was a former assistant to the Salt Lake City Opera’s make-up designer and wig master before moving to New York City, where he worked at make-up counters and apprenticed with artists including Kevyn Aucoin and Pat McGrath. His work appeared in such publications as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Allure.
E! News has reported that Bailey was found in his car this morning, and that authorities believe he died in a possible suicide from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Bailey’s representative at Starworks Artists issued the following statement to E! on Friday:
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jake Bailey’s passing. He was an undeniable talent, a great friend, a loving son and brother, and our grief is shared with all those whose lives he’s touched.”
Starworks representatives were not available for comment at presstime.
