Oscar statueThe sixth annual Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Symposium, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and hosted by Branch Governor Leonard Engelman, takes place 2:30 p.m. PST Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. And for the first time, the event will stream live on www.oscars.org.
During the symposium, the 2012 Oscar nominees for the Achievement in Makeup category will discuss their creative processes and present film clips, photographs and models of their work. There will also be a question-and-answer session.
This year’s nominated artists are: Martial Corneville, Lyn Johnston and Matthew W. Mungle for Albert Nobbs; Nick Dudman, Amanda Knight and Lisa Tomblin for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II; and Mark Coulier and J. Roy Helland for The Iron Lady. The symposium is open to the public. Pre-sale tickets have sold out, but a standby line will form on the day of the event. Standby numbers will be assigned starting at approximately noon.
