On Jan. 5, nominees presented their work to the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the nominating meeting, also known as the bake-off. The event was held at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. At the meeting, members narrowed the teams of contenders for the Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar from seven to three.
