You could own special make-up effects creations by FXSmith Studio, from movies such as X-Men, Jacob’s Ladder, Platoon, Nixon, JFK and Legends of the Fall. Toronto auction house Waddington’s will present items from the William Jamieson Estate collection in an online auction, March 23 – 26. A public preview will be March 21 and 22, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and March 23, 10 a.m. to noon.
“This auction really takes you behind the scenes—an exploration of the magic and the imagination of some of Hollywood’s most popular and provocative movies,” said Duncan McLean, president of Waddington’s, via a press release. “What impressed us was the artistry of the work; FXSmith’s team was comprised of some of Canada’s leading artists …”
Make-up effects artist Gordon Smith owns FXSmith and has worked in the industry for more than 30 years; he created the widely used Prosthetic Deadener.
The collection includes a life-size Mystique (played by Rebecca Romijn) from X-Men; the bust, prosthetic hands and arms and silicone bullet head wounds of Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) from X-Men; character concept art from X-Men; life-size models of eviscerated zebras and antelopes from Legends of the Fall; plaster composite lifecasts of Brad Pitt, Ethan Hawke, Gary Sinise, Geena Davis, Whoopi Goldberg, Anthony Hopkins, Paul Sorvino and James Woods; and a plaster composite death cast of President Harry S. Truman.
