Cinema Makeup School has announced that it will partner with Rick Baker for an inaugural Legends of Creature Design Scholarship, in addition to the school’s annual Legends of Makeup Scholarship. This $10,000 award to attend the school will focus on creature and character design and will be awarded in fall 2016.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of the school’s faculty and directors, as well as Baker himself. Applicants are to submit a single original creature or character design, which will be judged for technical skill, creativity and a sense of character.
CMS Director of Admissions Lee Joyner said in a press release, “Creature and character design remain a vital part of practical and digital effects work and animation, but pursuing a career in the art form can be challenging early on. Thanks to Rick, this scholarship will give a lot of artists a chance to show off their skills and will provide a chosen few the opportunity to take it even further by moving to Hollywood to study make-up effects at a high level.”
Entries will open Aug. 1 and close Sept. 30 at 12 p.m. PDT. For more details, go to the Legends Scholarships website.
