The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today the seven films that will remain in competition for the 2017 Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar. Make-Up Artist magazine featured the work in these movies in issues 119 and 122. Here are the possible nominees for the 89th Academy Awards, listed in alphabetical order:

On Jan. 7, members of the make-up and hairstyling teams for each of these movies will present and discuss their work to members of the academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch, vying for their place in the final list. The top-three finalists will be announced Jan. 24.
