A weekend of celebrating the achievements of make-up artists and hairstylists wrapped up Sunday, Feb. 21 with the second annual Hollywood Beauty Awards. Sponsored by entertainment website LATF USA and held at the Avalon Hollywood theater in California, the awards benefited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and honored professional hairstylists, make-up artists, photographers and other artisans working in film and television and on red-carpet looks.
Radio star Lisa Stanley emceed the event, which included celebrity presenters Johnny Depp, Jon Voight, Kendrick Sampson, Heidi Klum, Lauren Ash, Jose Moreno Brooks and Rebecca Gayheart. Throughout the night, awards for Outstanding Achievements were handed out to make-up artist Laini Thompson (presented by Sleepy Hollow actor Orlando Jones), special make-up effects artist Mike Smithson (presented by Oscar winner Rick Baker), hairstylist Kathryn Blondell (given to her by Rizzoli & Isles actress Angie Harmon), hairstylist Sterfon Demings (awarded by actresses Tamara Taylor and Jackée) and photographer Norman Seeff (presented by NASA’s Director of JPL, Dr. Charles Elachi).
There were also five separate award categories—each named for an Outstanding Achievement Award recipient—in which make-up artists, hairstylists and photographers competed.
