Congratulations to Greg Cannom, Kate Biscoe and Patricia DeHaney for their Academy Award for Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling for Vice.
The 91st Academy Awards, held Feb. 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, were memorable before they even began—especially during the brief moment that the make-up and hairstyling award was going to be awarded during a commercial break (along with three other awards). However, the craft award became the third category of the night to be recognized live during the broadcast.
Cannom, Biscoe and DeHaney appeared onstage and thanked, among others, their teams, director Adam McKay, actors Christian Bale and Amy Adams and their fellow nominees. This is the first Oscar nomination and win for Biscoe and DeHaney. Cannom won his last Oscar 10 years ago for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. He won three previous Academy Awards and one Technical Achievement Award; he’s been nominated 10 times.
Other nominees in this category were: Jenny Shircore, Marc Pilcher and Jessica Brooks for Mary Queen of Scots; and Göran Lundström and Pamela Goldammer for Border.
